Boundary Study #1 is a large scale mixed media collage assembled in an 'inner city' pattern. The inner city pattern used here resembles a common motif often seen in quilting practices, in this case, the pattern is intentionally fractured and incomplete. Here, the soft and comforting tactile qualities associated with a quilt are juxtaposed to the textures presented in the rubbings.
DRIL performed these rubbings as a means to document their wanderings, and to create an accumulative textural 'map' of their experiences and environment.
