Idlestates is a grid of porcelain houses that forms a ghostly version of the archetypal suburb. The work is a time based sculptural installation that can change in scale and formation. Over the course of an exhibition, plant life sprouts from their rooftops. Using the chia pet's vernacular as a departure point to draw from 20th century consumer culture, Idlestates navigates the ideologies propagated through suburban values as the American Dream and poetically examines and expands their mythologies.
